Joseph M Medwick was inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 1968 along with Kiki Cuyler and Goose Goslin. Medwick was an outfielder with 17 seasons MLB experience playing with the St Louis Cardinals (1932-1940, 1947-1948), Brooklyn Dodgers (1940-1943, 1946), New York Giants (1943-1945) and Boston Braves (1945). For his MLB career he hit .324/.362/.505 with 205 HR, 1383 RBI, 1198 R, 42 SB in 1984 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1937 when he hit .374/.414/.641 with 31 HR, 154 RBI, 111 R, 4 SB in 156 games, 1936 when he hit .351/.387/.577 with 18 HR, 138 RBI, 115 R, 3 SB in 155 games and 1935 when he hit .353/.386/.576 with 23 HR, 126 RBI, 132 R, 4 SB in 154 games.
Medwick was the National League batting champ in 1937. He led the NL in doubles in 1936 (64), 1937 (56) and 1938 (47). He led the NL in triples in 1934 (18). He led the NL in home runs in 1937. He led the NL in RBI in 1936, 1937 and 1938 (122). He led the NL in runs in 1937.
Medwick was the National League MVP and Triple Crown winner in 1937. He was an All Star ten times (1934-1942, 1944). Medwick won the World Series Championship with the Cardinals in 1934.
