Yovani Gallardo was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Texas Rangers on December 19, 2015 along with cash. In exchange the Brewers received Corey Knebel, Luis Sardinas and Marcos Diplan.
RHP Gallardo in 2014 was 8-11, 3.51 ERA, 146 K, 1.30 WHIP, .261 BAA in 192.1 IP over 32 games with the Brewers. Over eight MLB seasons with the Brewers he was 89-64, 3.69 ERA, 1226 K, 1.30 WHIP, .247 BAA in 1289.1 IP over 214 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the second round in 2004. Gallardo will be 29 on February 27.
RHP Knebel split 2014 between Double A Erie, Triple A Toledo and the Tigers before being traded and Triple A Round Rock after the trade. He was 3-0, 1.20 ERA, 23 K, 1.07 WHIP, .154 BAA, 1 SV in 15.0 IP over 11 games at Erie, 1-1, 1.96 ERA, 20 K, 0.82 WHIP, .109 BAA, 2 SV in 18.1 IP over 14 games at Toledo, 0-0, 6.23 ERA, 11 K, 1.62 WHIP, .306 BAA in 8.2 IP over 8 games with the Tigers and 1-0, 3.75 ERA, 20 K, 1.17 WHIP, .205 BAA in 12.0 IP over 9 games at Round Rock. He was originally drafted by the Tigers with the 39th pick of the first round in 2013 and traded to the Rangers in July 2014. Knebel turned 23 on November 26.
Sardinas is a 2B\SS\3B who split 2014 between Double A Frisco, Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers. He hit .253/.278/.333 with 0 HR, 9 RBI, 12 R, 1 SB in 21 games at Frisco, .290/.310/.374 with 1 HR, 28 RBI, 39 R, 9 SB in 60 games at Round Rock and .261/.303/.313 with 0 HR, 8 RBI, 12 R, 5 SB in 43 games with the Rangers. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Sardinas will be 22 on May 16.
RHP Diplan pitched in 2014 in the Dominican Summer League where he was 7-2, 1.54 ERA, 57 K, 1.06 WHIP, .155 BAA in 64.1 IP over 13 games. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Diplan will be 19 on September 18.
