Mat Latos traded to Marlins

Mat Latos was traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the Miami Marlins on December 11, 2014. In exchange the Reds received Anthony DeSclafani and Chad Wallach. 

RHP Latos split 2014 between Double A Pensacola and Triple A Louisville while rehabbing and the Reds. He was 0-0, 6.75 ERA, 3 K, 2.25 WHIP, .350 BAA in 4.0 IP in 1 game at Pensacola, 2-0, 2.33 ERA, 13 K, 1.24 WHIP, .243 BAA in 19.1 IP over 4 games at Louisville and 5-5, 3.25 ERA, 74 K, 1.15 WHIP, .240 BAA in 102.1 IP over 16 games with the Reds. Over six MLB seasons with the Reds and Padres he was 60-45, 3.34 ERA, 859 K, 1.17 WHIP, .233 BAA in 952.0 IP over 153 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 11th round in 2006 and was traded to the Reds in 2011. Latos turned 29 on December 9th.

RHP DeSclafani split 2014 between Double A Jacksonville, Triple A New Orleans and the Marlins. He was 3-4, 4.19 ERA, 38 K, 1.28 WHIP, .278 BAA in 43.0 IP over 8 games at Jacksonville, 3-3, 3.49 ERA, 59 K, 1.16 WHIP, .218 BAA in 59.1 IP over 12 games at New Orleans and 2-2, 6.27 ERA, 26 K, 1.36 WHIP, .303 BAA in 33.0 IP over 13 games with the Marlins. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the sixth round in 2011 and traded to the Marlins in 2012. DeSclafani will be 25 on April 18.

Wallach is a catcher who split 2014 between Class A Greensboro and Class A Advanced Jupiter. He hit .321/.430/.476 with 7 HR, 49 RBI, 50 R, 3 SB in 78 games at Greensboro and .328/.436/.375 with 0 HR, 8 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 19 games at Jupiter. His caught stealing rate was 26%. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the fifth round in 2013. Wallach turned 23 on November 4th.
