Jair Jurrjens traded to Rockies

Jair Jurrjens was traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the Colorado Rockies on July 2, 2014. In exchange the Reds received Harold Riggins.

RHP Jurrjen was at Triple A Louisville prior to the trade where he was 2-3, 4.46 ERA, 27 K, 1.60 WHIP in 34.1 IP over 6 games. He is in his eighth season MLB experience including the Orioles, Braves and Tigers and is 53-38, 3.72 ERA, 514 K, 1.34 WHIP in 767.1 IP over 130 games. He originally signed with the Tigers in 2003 as an amateur free agent out of Curacao. Jurrjens turned 28 on January 29.

Riggins is a first baseman who was at Double A Tulsa prior to the trade where he hit .263/.351/.447 with 7 HR, 25 RBI, 20 R, 2 SB in 58 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the seventh round in 2011. Riggins turned 24 on March 6th.
