Marlon Byrd traded to Reds

Marlon Byrd was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Cincinnati Reds on December 31, 2014 along with cash. In exchange the Phillies received Ben Lively.

Byrd is an outfielder who in 2014 hit .264/.312/.445 with 25 HR, 85 RBI, 71 R, 3 SB in 154 games with the Phillies. Over 13 MLB seasons with the Phillies, Pirates, Mets, Red Sox, Cubs, Rangers, and Nationals he hit .278/.333/.427 with 131 HR, 618 RBI, 671 R, 54 SB in 1404 games. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the 10th round in 1999. Byrd will be 38 on August 30.

RHP Lively split 2014 between Class A Advanced Bakersfield and Double A Pensacola. He was 10-1, 2.28 ERA, 95 K, 0.92 WHIP, .201 BAA in 79.0 IP over 13 games at Bakersfield and 3-6, 3.88 ERA, 76 K, 1.33 WHIP, .232 BAA in 72.0 IP over 13 games at Penacola. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the fourth round in 2013. Lively will be 23 on March 5th.
