Jason Heyward traded to Cardinals

Jason Heyward was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the St Louis Cardinals on November 17, 2014 along with Jordan Walden. In exchange the Braves received Shelby Miller and Tyrell Jenkins.

Heyward is an outfielder who played in 2014 with the Braves where he hit .271/.351/.384 with 11 HR, 58 RBI, 74 R, 20 SB in 149 games. Over five MLB seasons with the Braves he hit .262/.351/.429 with 84 HR, 292 RBI, 367 R, 63 SB in 681 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves with the 14th pick of the first round in 2007. Heyward will be 26 on August 9th.

RHP Walden split 2014 between Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves as he was 0-1, 10.80 ERA, 5 K, 1.20 WHIP, .143 BAA in 1.2 IP over 2 games at Gwinnett and 0-2, 2.88 ERA, 62 K, 1.20 WHIP, .186 BAA, 3 SV in 50.0 IP over 58 games with the Braves. Over five MLB seasons with the Braves and Angels he is 12-13, 3.10 ERA, 254 K, 1.23 WHIP, .215 BAA, 38 SV in 211.2 IP over 231 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 12th round in 2006 and was traded to the Braves in 2012. Walden turned 27 on November 16.

RHP Miller pitched in 2014 with the Cardinals where he was 10-9, 3.74 ERA, 127 K, 4.54 WHIP, .236 BAA in 183.0 IP over 32 games. Over three MLB seasons with the Cardinals he was 26-18, 3.33 ERA, 312 K, 1.23 WHIP, .233 BAA in 370.0 IP over 69 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals with the 19th pick of the first round in 2009. Miller turned 24 on October 10.

RHP Jenkins pitched in 2014 at Class A Advanced Palm Beach where he was 6-5, 3.28 ERA, 41 K, 1.31 WHIP, .264 BAA in 74.0 IP over 13 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals with the 50th pick of the first round in 2010. Jenkins will be 23 on July 20.
