David Hale traded to Rockies

David Hale was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the Colorado Rockies on July 30, 2015 along with Gus Schlosser. In exchange the Braves received Jose Briceno and Chris O'Dowd.

RHP Hale in 2014 was 4-5, 3.30 ERA, 44 K, 1.47 WHIP, .264 BAA in 87.1 IP over 45 games with the Braves. Over two MLB seasons with the Braves he was 5-5, 3.02 ERA, 58 K, 1.42 WHIP, .262 BAA in 98.1 IP over 47 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the third round in 2009. Hale will be 28 on September 27.

RHP Schlosser split 2014 between Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves. He was 7-6, 4.18 ERA, 70 K, 1.42 WHIP, .249 BAA in 99.1 IP over 25 games at Gwinnett and 0-1, 7.64 ERA, 8 K, 1.64 WHIP, .329 BAA in 17.2 IP over 15 games with the Braves. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the 17th round in 2011. Schlosser will be 27 on October 20.

Briceno is a C\1B who played at Class A Asheville where he hit .283/.336/.476 with 12 HR, 50 RBI, 38 R, 8 SB in 84 games. His minor league caught stealing rate is 42%. He originally signed with the Rockies in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Briceno will be 23 on September 19.

O'Dowd is a catcher who split 2014 between Class A Advanced Modesto and Double A Tulsa. He hit .272/.325/.415 with 5 HR, 32 RBI, 40 R, 16 SB in 74 games at Modesto and .269/.355/.321 with 0 HR, 16 RBI, 12 R, 7 SB in 39 games at Tulsa. His minor league caught stealing rate is 21%. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 23rd round in 2012. O'Dowd will be 25 on October 4th.
