The Washington Nationals selected the contracts of Sammy Solis and Michael Taylor from Class A Advanced Potomac and Aaron Barrett from Double A Harrisburg and placed them on the Nationals 40 man roster. The move was made to protect the players from the upcoming Rule 5 draft on December 12. It is interesting to see which players an organization values as it moves the draft eligible players under the protective roster umbrella.
RHP Solis split 2013 between Rookie Gulf Coast and Potomac. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 3 K, 0.50 WHIP in 2.0 IP in 1 game at Gulf Coast and was 2-1, 3.43 ERA, 40 K, 1.34 WHIP in 57.2 IP over 13 games at Potomac. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the second round in 2010. Solis turned 25 on August 10.
Taylor is an outfielder who played in 2013 at Potomac. He hit .263/.340/.426 with 10 HR, 87 RBI, 79 R, 51 SB in 133 games. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the sixth round in 2009. Taylor turned 22 on March 26.
