Jose Fernandez 2013 NL Rookie of the Year

Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins was named the 2013 National League Rookie of the Year after receiving 26 first place votes by the Baseball Writers Association of America for a total of 142 points. Yasiel Puig of the Dodgers received the other four first place votes and 95 total points. Others receiving votes were Shelby Miller of the Cardinals with 12 points, Hyun-Jin Ryu of the Dodgers with 10 points, Julio Teheran of the Braves with seven points, Jedd Gyorko of the Padres with two points, Nolan Arenado of the Rockies with one point and Evan Gattis of the Braves with one point. 

The RHP pitched all of 2013 with the Marlins and was 12-6, 2.19 ERA, 187 K, 0.98 WHIP in 172.2 IP over 28 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the 14th pick of the first round in 2011. Fernandez turned 21 on July 31.
