The Toronto Blue Jays selected the contracts of Deck McGuire and Kenny Wilson from Double A New Hampshire placed them on the Blue Jays 40 man roster. The move was made to protect the players from the upcoming Rule 5 draft on December 12. It is interesting to see which players an organization values as it moves the draft eligible players under the protective roster umbrella.
RHP McGuire pitched in 2013 at New Hampshire. He was 9-10, 4.86 ERA, 143 K, 1.32 WHIP in 157.1 IP over 27 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays with the 11th pick of the first round in 2010. McGuire turned 24 on June 23.
Wilson is an outfielder who split 2013 between Rookie Gulf Coast, Class A Advanced Dunedin and New Hampshire. He hit .222/.364/.222 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 3 games at Gulf Coast, hit .625/.700/.875 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 4 R, 1 SB in 2 games at Dunedin and hit .259/.333/.375 with 3 HR, 11 RBI, 31 R, 16 SB in 55 games at New Hampshire. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the second round in 2008. Wilson will be 24 on January 30.
