Chicago White Sox Selected Contracts Prior to 2013 Rule 5 Draft

The Chicago White Sox selected the contracts of Carlos Sanchez and Trayce Thompson from Triple A Charlotte and placed them on the White Sox 40 man roster. The move was made to protect the players from the upcoming Rule 5 draft on December 12. It is interesting to see which players an organization values as it moves the draft eligible players under the protective roster umbrella.

Sanchez is a 2B\SS who played in 2013 at Charlotte. He hit .241/.293/.296 with 0 HR, 28 RBI, 50 R, 16 SB in 112 games. He originally signed with the White Sox in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Sanchez turned 21 on June 29.

Thompson is an outfielder who played in 2013 at Double A Birmingham. He hit .229/.321/.383 with 15 HR, 73 RBI, 78 R, 25 SB in 135 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the second round in 2009. Thompson turned 22 on March 15.
