He garnered 28 first place votes and had 409 points total. The rest of the top five were Paul Goldschmidt of the Diamondbacks with 242 points, Yadier Molina of the Cardinals with two first place votes and 219 points total, Matt Carpenter of the Cardinals with 194 points and Freddie Freeman of the Braves with 154 points.
Other receiving votes were Joey Votto of the Reds with 149 points, Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers with 146, Hanley Ramirez of the Dodgers with 58, Carlos Gomez of the Brewers with 43, Jay Bruce of the Reds with 30, Craig Kimbrel of the Braves with 27, Shin-Soo Choo with 23, Jayson Werth of the Nationals with 20, Andrelton Simmons of the Braves with 14, Yasiel Puig of the Dodgers with 10, Hunter Pence of the Giants with 7, Troy Tulowitzki of the Rockies with 5, Allen Craig of the Cardinals with 4, Adrian Gonzalez of the Dodgers with 4, Buster Posey of the Giants with 3, Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals with 3, Michael Cuddyer of the Rockies with 3, Matt Holliday of the Cardinals with 2 and Russell Martin of the Pirates with 1.
The Pirates outfielder hit .317/.404/.508 with 21 HR, 84 RBI, 97 R, 27 SB in 157 games in 2013. Over his five season MLB career with the Pirates he has hit .296/.380/.489 with 103 HR, 379 RBI, 459 R, 125 SB in 734 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates with the 11th pick of the first round in 2005. McCutchen turned 27 on October 10.
