2013 Where are they now 2011 MLB draft top 10

The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how the top 10 players of the 2011 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The first player drafted in 2011 was RHP Gerrit Cole by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of UCLA. He split 2013 between Triple A Indianapolis and the Pirates. He was 5-3, 2.91 ERA, 47 K, 1.06 WHIP in 68.0 IP over 12 games at Indianapolis and was 10-7, 3.22 ERA, 100 K, 1.17 WHIP in 117.1 IP over 19 games with the Pirates.

The Seattle Mariners drafted LHP Danny Hultzen second out of Virginia. He split 2013 between Rookie Arizona and Triple A Tacoma while missing much of the season with a shoulder injury. He was 1-0, 1.80 ERA, 8 K, 0.60 WHIP in 5.0 IP in 1 games at Arizona and was 4-1, 2.05 ERA, 34 K, 0.85 WHIP in 30.2 IP over 6 games at Tacoma.

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted RHP Trevor Bauer third out of UCLA. He was traded to the Indians in 2012. He split 2013 between Triple A Columbus and the Indians. He was 6-7, 4.15 ERA, 106 K, 1.58 WHIP in 121.1 IP over 22 games at Columbus and was 1-2, 5.29 ERA, 11 K, 1.82 WHIP in 17.0 IP over 4 games with the Indians.

The Baltimore Orioles drafted RHP Dylan Bundy fifth out of Owasso High School in Owasso, OK. He missed 2013 with an elbow injury and had Tommy John surgery.

The Kansas City Royals drafted outfielder Bubba Starling fifth out of Gardner Edgerton High School in Gardner, KS. He played 2013 at Class A Lexington. He hit .241/.329/.398 with 13 HR, 63 RBI, 51 R, 22 SB in 125 games.

The Washington Nationals drafted third baseman Anthony Rendon sixth out of Rice. He split 2013 between Double A Harrisburg, Triple A Syracuse and the Nationals. He hit .319/.461/.603 with 6 HR, 24 RBI, 17 R, 1 SB in 33 games at Harrisburg, hit .182/.357/.273 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 3 games at Syracuse and hit .265/.329/.396 with 7 HR, 35 RBI, 40 R, 1 SB in 98 games with the Nationals.

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted RHP Archie Bradley seventh out of Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, OK. He split 2013 between Class A Advanced Visalia and Double A Mobile. He was 2-0, 1.26 ERA, 43 K, 1.12 WHIP in 28.2 IP over 5 games at Visalia and was 12-5, 1.97 ERA, 119 K, 1.23 WHIP in 123.1 IP over 21 games at Mobile. 

The Cleveland Indians drafted shortstop Francisco Lindor eighth out of Montverde Academy in Montverde, FL. He split 2013 between Class A Advanced Carolina and Double A Akron. He hit .306/.373/.410 with 1 HR, 27 RBI, 51 R, 20 SB in 83 games at Carolina and hit .289/.407/.395 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 14 R, 5 SB in 21 games at Akron.

The Chicago Cubs drafted shortstop Javier Baez ninth out of Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, FL. He split 2013 between Class A Advanced Daytona and Double A Tennessee. He hit .274/.338/.535 with 17 HR, 57 RBI, 59 R, 12 SB in 76 games at Daytona and hit .294/.346/.638 with 20 HR, 54 RBI, 39 R, 8 SB in 54 games at Tennessee.

The San Diego Padres drafted second baseman Cory Spangenberg tenth out of Indian River Community College. He split 2013 between Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore and Double A San Antonio. He hit .296/.364/.460 with 4 HR, 31 RBI, 33 R, 17 SB in 54 games at Lake Elsinore and hit .289/.331/.366 with 2 HR, 20 RBI, 35 R, 19 SB in 76 games at San Antonio.
