2013 Where are they now 2010 MLB draft top 10

The 2013 season is behind us and I'm checking how the top 10 players of the 2010 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The first player drafted in 2010 was outfielder Bryce Harper by the Washington Nationals out of the College of Southern Nevada. Harper split 2013 between Class A Advanced Potomac and Double A Harrisburg while rehabbing and the Nationals. He hit .500/.600/1.500 with 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 2 games at Potomac, hit .286/.444/.571 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 2 games at Harrisburg and hit .274/.368/.486 with 20 HR, 58 RBI, 71 R, 11 SB in 118 games with the Nationals. He was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2012.

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted RHP Jameson Taillon second out of the The Woodlands high school in Texas. He split 2012 between Double A Altoona and Triple A Indianapolis. He was 4-7, 3.67 ERA, 106 K, 1.34 WHIP in 20 games at Altoona and was 1-3, 3.89 ERA, 37 K, 1.27 WHIP in 37.0 IP over 6 games at Indianapolis.

The Baltimore Orioles drafted shortstop Manny Machado third out of Brito Miami Private School in Miami, FL. He played in 2013 with the Orioles. He hit .283/.314/.432 with 14 HR, 71 RBI, 88 R, 6 SB in 156 games with the Orioles.

The Kansas City Royals drafted shortstop Christian Colon fourth out of Cal State-Fullerton. He played in 2013 Triple A Omaha. He hit .273/.335/.379 with 12 HR, 58 RBI, 72 R, 15 SB in 131 games at Omaha.

The Cleveland Indians drafted LHP Drew Pomeranz fifth out of Ole Miss. He was traded to the Rockies in 2011. He split 2013 between Double A Tulsa, Triple A Colorado Springs and the Rockies. He was 0-1, 11.81 ERA, 5 K, 2.06 WHIP in 5.1 IP in 1 game at Tulsa, was 8-1, 4.20 ERA, 96 K, 1.35 WHIP in 85.2 IP over 15 games at Colorado Springs and was 0-4, 6.23 ERA, 19 K, 2.03 WHIP in 21.2 IP over 8 games with the Rockies.

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted RHP Barret Loux sixth out of Texas A&M. He failed his physical and was not offered a contract and later signed with the Texas Rangers as a free agent. He was traded to the Cubs in 2012. He pitched in 2013 at Triple A Iowa and was 4-6, 4.84 ERA, 76 K, 1.64 WHIP in 80.0 IP over 19 games.

The New York Mets drafted RHP Matt Harvey seventh out of North Carolina. He pitched in 2013 with the Mets and was 9-5, 2.27 ERA, 191 K, 0.93 WHIP in 178.1 IP over 26 games with the Mets.

The Houston Astros drafted outfielder Delino DeShields Jr eighth out of Woodward Academy in College Park, GA. He played in 2013 at Class A Advanced Lancaster and hit ..317/.405/.468 with 5 HR, 54 RBI, 100 R, 51 SB in 111 games.

The San Diego Padres drafted RHP Karsten Whitson ninth out of Chipley High School in Florida. He went unsigned and enrolled to pitch for the Florida Gators.

The Oakland Athletics drafted outfielder Michael Choice tenth out of the University of Texas-Arlington. He split 2013 between Triple A Sacramento and Athletics. He hit .302/.390/.445 with 14 HR, 89 RBI, 90 R, 1 SB in 132 games at Sacramento and hit .278/.316/.333 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 9 games with the Athletics.
