Milwaukee Brewers Selected Contracts Prior to 2013 Rule 5 Draft

The Milwaukee Brewers selected the contracts of Kevin Shackelford and Brooks Hall from Double A Huntsville and Hunter Morris from Triple A Nashville and placed them on the Brewers 40 man roster. The move was made to protect the players from the upcoming Rule 5 draft on December 12. It is interesting to see which players an organization values as it moves the draft eligible players under the protective roster umbrella.

RHP Shackelford split 2013 between Class A Advanced Brevard County and Huntsville. He was 1-3, 5.06 ERA, 23 K, 1.34 WHIP, 2 SV in 32.0 IP over 24 games at Brevard County and was 1-1, 0.92 ERA, 25 K, 1.02 WHIP, 6 SV in 29.1 IP over 20 games at Huntsville. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the 21st round in 2010. Shackelford turned 24 on April 7th.

RHP Hall split 2013 between Class A Advanced Brevard County and Huntsville. He was 2-3, 2.78 ERA, 40 K, 1.11 WHIP in 58.1 IP over 11 games at Brevard County and was 2-4, 4.01 ERA, 39 K, 1.45 WHIP, 1 SV in 60.2 IP over 17 games at Huntsville. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the fourth round in 2009. Hall turned 23 on June 26.

Morris is a first baseman who played in 2013 at Nashville. He hit .247/.310/.457 with 24 HR, 73 RBI, 61 R, 3 SB in 134 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the fourth round in 2010. Morris turned 25 on October 7th.
