The Los Angeles Angels selected the contract of Randal Grichuk from Double A Arkansas and placed him on the Angels 40 man roster. The move was made to protect the player from the upcoming Rule 5 draft on December 12. It is interesting to see which players an organization values as it moves the draft eligible players under the protective roster umbrella.
Grichuk is an outfielder who played in 2013 at Arkansas. He hit .256/.306/.474 with 22 HR, 64 RBI, 85 R, 0 SB in 128 games. he was originally drafted by the Angels with the 24th pick of the first round in 2009. Grichuk turned 22 on August 13.
