Arizona Diamondbacks Selected Contracts Prior to 2013 Rule 5 Draft

The Arizona Diamondbacks selected the contracts of Ender Inciarte and Bo Schultz from Double A Mobile and placed them on the Diamondbacks 40 man roster. The move was made to protect the players from the upcoming Rule 5 draft on December 12. It is interesting to see which players an organization values as it moves the draft eligible players under the protective roster umbrella.

Inciarte is an outfielder who played in 2013 at Mobile. He hit .281/.327/.362 with 5 HR, 25 RBI, 68 R, 43 SB in 127 games. He originally signed with the Diamondbacks in 2008 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Inciarte turned 23 on October 29.

RHP Schultz split 2013 between Triple A Reno before being demoted to Mobile. He was 0-2, 5.49 ERA, 23 K, 1.83 WHIP in 19.2 IP over 17 games against Reno and was 5-4, 2.86 ERA, 52 K, 1.07 WHIP, 1 SV in 85.0 IP over 20 games at Mobile. He originally signed with the Athletics in 2008 as an amateur free agent. Schultz turned 28 on September 25.
