Dean Anna was traded by the San Diego Padres to the New York Yankees on November 20, 2013. In exchange the Padres received Ben Paullus.
Anna is a 2B\SS\3B who played in 2013 at Triple A Tucson. He hit .331/.410/.482 with 9 HR, 73 RBI, 90 R, 3 SB in 132 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 26th round in 2008. Anna will be 27 on November 24.
RHP Paullus split 2013 between Class A Charleston and Class A Advanced Tampa. He was 6-3, 2.54 ERA, 60 K, 1.19 WHIP, 9 SV in 60.1 IP over 32 games at Charleston and was 0-0, 5.56 ERA, 6 K, 1.50 WHIP in 11.1 IP over 6 games at Tampa. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 19th round in 2011. Paullus turned 24 on August 31.
