Michael J Schmidt was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1995 along with Richie Ashburn, Leon Day, William Hulbert and Victor Willis. Schmidt was a 3B\1B with 18 seasons MLB experience playing all with the Philadelphia Phillies (1972-1989). For his MLB career he hit .267/.380/.527 with 548 HR, 1595 RBI, 1506 R, 174 SB in 2404 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1980 when he hit .286/.380/.624 with 48 HR, 121 RBI, 104 R, 12 SB in 150 games, 1986 when he hit .290/.390/.547 with 37 HR, 119 RBI, 97 R, 1 SB in 160 games and 1981 when he hit .316/.435/.644 with 31 HR, 91 RBI, 78 R, 12 SB in 102 games of a strike shortened season.
Schmidt led the National League in home runs eight times in 1974 (36), 1975 (38), 1976 (38), 1980, 1981, 1983 (40), 1984 (36) and 1986. He led the NL in RBI in 1980, 1981, 1984 (106) and 1986. He led the NL in runs in 1981.
He was an All Star 12 times (1974, 1976-1977, 1980-1984, 1986-1987, 1989).
Schmidt won the National League MVP in 1980, 1981 and 1986. He won 10 Gold Gloves (1976-1984, 1986). He won the World Series Championship with the Phillies in 1980.
