Bruce Sutter was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2006 along with Raymond Brown, Willard Brown, Andy Cooper, Franklin Grant, Pete Hill, Biz Mackey, Effa Manley, Jose Mendez, Alex Pompez, Cum Posey, Louis Santop, Mule Suttles, Ben Taylor, Cristobal Torriente, Solomon White, JL Wilkinson and Jud Wilson. Sutter was a RHP with 12 seasons MLB experience playing with the Chicago Cubs (1976-1980), St Louis Cardinals (1981-1984) and Atlanta Braves (1985-1986, 1988). For his MLB career he was 68-71 with a 2.83 ERA, 861 K, 1.14 WHIP, 300 SV in 1042.0 IP over 661 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1977 when he was 7-3 with a 1.34 ERA, 129 K, 0.86 WHIP, 31 SV in 107.1 IP over 62 games, 1979 when he was 6-6 with a 2.22 ERA, 110 K, 0.98 WHIP, 37 SV in 101.1 IP over 62 games and 1984 when he was 5-7 with a 1.54 ERA, 77 K, 1.08 WHIP, 45 SV in 122.2 IP over 71 games.
Sutter led the National League in saves in 1979, 1980 (28), 1981 (25), 1982 (36) and 1984
He was an All Star six times (1977-1981, 1984). Sutter won the National League Cy Young in 1979. He won the World Series Championship with the Cardinals in 1982.
