Effa Manley was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2006 along with Raymond Brown, Willard Brown, Andy Cooper, Franklin Grant, Pete Hill, Biz Mackey, Jose Mendez, Alex Pompez, Cum Posey, Louis Santop, Bruce Sutter, Mule Suttles, Ben Taylor, Cristobal Torriente, Solomon White, JL Wilkinson and Jud Wilson. Manley was inducted by the Negro League Committee. She was an executive and along with her husband was co-owner of the Brooklyn Eagles (1935) and Newark Eagles (1936-1948). She was the first woman inducted into the Hall of Fame. Newark won the Negro League World Series in 1946.
