Dorrell N E (Whitey) Herzog was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2010 along with Andre Dawson and Doug Harvey. Herzog was an OF\1B with eight seasons MLB experience playing with the Washington Senators (1956-1958), Kansas City Athletics (1958-1960), Baltimore Orioles (1961-1962) and Detroit Tigers (1963). For his MLB career he hit .257/.354/.365 with 25 HR, 172 RBI, 213 R, 13 SB in 634 games.
However his was his career as manager that warranted his induction to the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee. He was manager for the Texas Rangers (1973) with a 47-91 record, California Angels (1974) with a 2-2 record, Kansas City Royals (1975-1979) with a 410-304 record and St Louis Cardinals (1980-1990) with a 822-728 record. His 1281 career wins ranks 34th all time. He won the National League Manager of the Year in 1985. Herzog won the World Series Championship with the Cardinals in 1982.
