College Spotlight 032813

Here is my week six installment of College Spotlight for 2013. This week I am looking at Yale Rosen of Washington State and Buck Farmer of Georgia Tech.

Sophomore outfielder Yale Rosen is out of Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, WA. Rosen is hitting for both average and power as Washington State has started conference play. In 2013 he is hitting .391/.443/.621 with 5 HR, 23 RBI, 19 R, 0 SB in 23 games. Rosen has really broken out big after being used sparingly as a freshman when he hit .087/.267/.130 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB as he went 2 for 23 in 22 games. He has shown his bat needs to be in the line up and he should be a team leader in most offensive categories.

Senior RHP Buck Farmer is out of Rockdale High School in Conyers, GA. He is coming off an impressive performance where he shut down traditional power Florida State in a 10-0 victory. For the game Farmer had the line 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K in 105 pitches. For the season he is 5-0, 1.35 ERA, 51 K, 0.90 WHIP in 40.0 IP over 6 games. Last season as a junior he was 8-4, 3.54 ERA, 115 K, 1.28 WHIP in 106.2 IP over 16 games. Farmer has gone from good to great this year and Georgia Tech will expect more dominating performances down the stretch.
