James E Rice was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2009 along with Joe Gordon and Rickey Henderson. Rice was an OF\DH with 16 seasons MLB experience playing all with the Boston Red Sox (1974-1989). For his MLB career he hit .298/.352/.502 with 382 HR, 1451 RBI, 1249 R, 58 SB in 2089 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1978 when he hit .315/.370/.600 with 46 HR, 139 RBI, 121 R, 7 SB in 163 games, 1979 when he hit .325/.381/.596 with 39 HR, 130 RBI, 117 R, 9 SB in 158 games and 1977 when he hit .320/.376/.593 with 39 HR, 114 RBI, 104 R, 5 SB in 160 games.
Rice led the American League in triples in 1978 (15). He led the AL in home runs in 1977, 1978 and 1983 (39). He led the AL in RBI in 1978 and 1983 (126).
He was an All Star eight times (1977-1980, 1983-1986). Rice won the American League MVP in 1978 and had finished second in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 1975.
