Cumberland (Cum) Posey was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2006 along with Raymond Brown, Willard Brown, Andy Cooper, Franklin Grant, Pete Hill, Biz Mackey, Effa Manley, Jose Mendez, Alex Pompez, Louis Santop, Bruce Sutter, Mule Suttles, Ben Taylor, Cristobal Torriente, Solomon White, JL Wilkinson and Jud Wilson. Posey was inducted by the Negro League Committee as an executive and pioneer. He was involved with the Homestead Grays as player, manager and owner (1911-1946). He joined the team as an outfielder in 1911 and became the manager in 1912. In the early 1920's he became the teams owner and built a team that was a model for others. The team won 46 straight games in 1926 and had a string of nine straight pennants (1937-1945). The Grays won the Negro World Series Championship in 1943, 1944 and 1948.
