Rickey N H Henderson was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2009 along with Joe Gordon and Jim Rice. Henderson was an outfielder with 25 seasons MLB experience playing with the Oakland Athletics (1979-1984, 1989-1993, 1994-1995, 1998), New York Yankees (1985-1989), Toronto Blue Jays (1993), San Diego Padres (1996-1997, 2001), Anaheim Angels (1997), New York Mets (1999-2000), Seattle Mariners (2000), Boston Red Sox (2002) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2003). For his MLB career he hit .279/.401/.419 with 297 HR, 1115 RBI, 2295 R, 1406 SB in 3081 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1985 when he hit .314/.419/.516 with 24 HR, 72 RBI, 146 R, 80 SB in 143 games, 1990 when he hit .325/.439/.577 with 28 HR, 61 RBI, 119 RBI, 65 SB in 136 games and 1986 when he hit .263/.358/.469 with 28 HR, 74 RBI, 130 R, 87 SB in 153 games.
Henderson led the American League in runs in 1981 (89), 1985, 1986, 1989 (113) and 1990. He led the AL in steals 12 times in 1980 (100), 1981 (56), 1982 (130), 1983 (108), 1984 (66), 1985, 1986, 1988 (93), 1989 (77), 1990, 1991 (58) and 1998 (66). He holds the MLB career records for runs and steals.
He was an All Star ten times (1980, 1982-1991), He was a Gold Glove in 1990. His 130 steals in 1982 is the MLB single season record. Henderson won the American League MVP in 1990. He won the World Series Championship with the Yankees in 1989 and with the Blue Jays in 1993.
