Anthony K (Tony) Gwynn was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2007 along with Cal Ripkin. Gwynn was an outfielder with 20 seasons MLB experience playing all with the San Diego Padres (1982-2001). For his MLB career he hit .338/.388/.459 with 135 HR, 1138 RBI, 1383 R, 319 SB in 2440 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1997 when he hit .372/.409/.547 with 17 HR, 119 RBI, 97 R, 12 SB in 149 games, 1986 when he hit .329/.381/.467 with 14 HR, 59 RBI, 107 R, 37 SB in 160 games and 1987 when he hit .370/.447/.511 with 7 HR, 54 RBI, 119 R, 56 SB in 157 games.
Gwynn was the National League batting champ eight times: 1984 (.351), 1987, 1988 (.313), 1989 (.336), 1994 (.394), 1995 (.368), 1996 (.353) and 1997. He led the NL in runs in 1986.
He was an All Star 15 times (1984-1987, 1989-1999).He won five Gold Gloves (1986-1987, 1989-1991). His 3141 career hits ranks 18th all time.
