Joseph F (Arky) Vaughn was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1985 along with Lou Brock, Enos Slaughter and Hoyt Wilhelm. Vaughn was a SS\3B with 14 seasons MLB experience playing with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1932-1941) and Brooklyn Dodgers (1942-1943, 1947-1948). For his MLB career he hit .318/.406/.453 with 96 HR, 926 RBI, 1173 R, 118 SB in 1817 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1935 when he hit .385/.491/.607 with 19 HR, 99 RBI, 108 R, 4 SB in 137 games, 1936 when he hit .335/.453/.474 with 9 HR, 78 RBI, 122 R, 6 SB in 156 games and 1940 when he hit .300/.393/.453 with 7 HR, 95 RBI, 113 R, 12 SB in 156 games.
Vaughn was the National League batting champin 1935. He led the NL in triples in 1933 (19), 1937 (17) and 1940 (15). He led the NL in runs in 1936, 1940 and 1943 (112).
He was an All Star nine times (1934-1942).
