Norman T (Turkey) Stearnes was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2000 along with Sparky Anderson, Carlton Fisk, Bid McPhee and Tony Perez. Stearnes was inducted by the Veteran's Committee and had been a player in the Negro Leagues. He was an outfielder who played for the Nashville Giants (1920), Montgomery Grey Sox (1921), Detroit Stars (1923-1931, 1937), New York Lincoln Giants (1930), Kansas City Monarchs (1931, 1934, 1938-1940), Chicago American Giants (1932-1935, 1937-1938) and Philadelphia Stars (1936). While stats are incomplete they show he hit .345/.397/.619 with 183 HR, 718 RBI, 712 R, 129 SB. The lefty led the league in home runs seven times.
