George T (Tom) Seaver was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1992 along with Rollie Fingers, William Newhouser and Hal Newhouser. Seaver was a RHP with 20 seasons MLB experience pitching with the New York Mets (1967-1977, 1983), Cincinnati Reds (1977-1982), Chicago White Sox (1984-1986) and Boston Red Sox (1986). For his MLB career he was 311-205 with a 2.86 ERA, 3640 K, 1.12 WHIP, 1 SV, 231 complete games, 61 shut outs in 4783.0 IP over 656 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1969 when he was 25-7 with a 2.21 ERA, 208 K, 1.04 WHIP, 18 complete games, 5 shut outs in 273.1 IP over 36 games, 1975 when he was 22-9 with a 2.38 ERA, 243 K, 1.09 WHIP, 15 complete games, 5 shut outs in 280.1 IP over 36 games and 1977 when he was 21-6 with a 2.58 ERA, 196 K, 1.01 WHIP, 19 complete games, 7 shut outs in 261.1 IP over 33 games.
Seaver won the National League Rookie of the Year in 1967 when he was 16-13 with a 2.76 ERA, 170 K, 1.20 WHIP, 18 complete games, 2 shut outs in 251.0 IP over 35 games.
Seaver won the National League Cy Young in 1969, 1975 and 1973 when he was 19-10 with a 2.08 ERA, 251 K, 0.98 WHIP, 18 complete games, 3 shut outs in 290.0 IP over 36 games. He was also second in NL Cy Young voting in 1971 and 1981.
Seaver led the National League in wins in 1969, 1975 and 1981 (14). He led the NL in ERA in 1970 (2.82), 1971 (1.76) and 1973 (2.08). He led the NL in strikeouts in 1970 (283), 1971 (289), 1973, 1975 and 1976 (235).
He was an All Star 12 times (1967-1973, 1975-1978, 1981). He pitched a no hitter on June 16, 1978 against the St Louis Cardinals. Seaver won the World Series Championship with the Mets in 1969.
