Roland G (Rollie) Fingers was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1992 along with William McGowan, Hal Newhouser and Tom Seaver. Fingers was a RHP with 17 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Oakland Athletics (1968-1976), San Diego Padres (1977-1980) and Milwaukee Brewers (1981-1982, 1984-1985). For his MLB career he was 114-118 with a 2.90 ERA, 1299 K, 1.16 WHIP, 341 SV, 4 complete games, 2 shut outs in 1701.1 IP over 944 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1981 when he was 6-3 with a 1.04 ERA, 61 K, 0.87 WHIP, 28 SV in 78.0 IP over 47 games, 1975 when he was 10-6 with a 2.98 ERA, 115 K, 1.01 WHIP, 24 SV in 126.2 IP over 75 games and 1972 when he was 11-9 with a 2.51 ERA, 113 K, 1.05 WHIP, 21 SV in 111.1 IP over 65 games.
Fingers led the National League in saves 1977 (35) and 1978 (37) and led the American League in saves in 1981
He was an All Star seven times (1973-1976, 1978, 1981-1982). . His 341 career saves ranks 10th all time. Fingers won the American League Cy Young and MVP awards in 1981. He won the World Series Championship three times with the Athletics in 1972, 1973 and 1974.
