Richard B Ferrell was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1984 along with Luis Aparicio, Don Drysdale, Harmon Killebrew and Pee Wee Reese. Ferrell was a catcher with 18 seasons MLB experience playing with the St Louis Browns (1929-1933, 1941-1943), Boston Red Sox (1933-1937) and Washington Senators (1937-1941, 1944-1945, 1947). For his MLB career he hit .281/.378/.363 with 28 HR, 734 RBI, 687 R, 29 SB in 1884 games. He threw out 44% of those that attempted to steal on him.
I believe his three best seasons were 1932 when he hit .315/.406/.420 with 2 HR, 65 RBI, 67 R, 5 SB in 126 games, 1933 when he hit .290/.381/.373 with 4 HR, 77 RBI, 58 R, 4 SB in 140 games and 1935 when he hit .301/.388/.413 with 3 HR, 61 RBI, 54 R, 5 SB in 133 games. He was an All Star eight times (1933-1938, 1944-1945).
Ferrell later spent many years as an executive with the Detroit Tigers as General Manager (1959-1962) and vice president (1959-1974).
