Don Richard (Richie) Ashburn was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1995 along with Leon Day, William Hulbert, Mike Schmidt and Victor Willis. Ashburn was an outfielder with 15 seasons MLB experience playing with the Philadelphia Phillies (1948-1959), Chicago Cubs (1960-1961) and New York Mets (1962). For his MLB career he hit .308/.396/.382 with 29 HR, 586 RBI, 1322 R, 234 SB in 2189 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1953 when he hit .330/.394/.408 with 2 HR, 57 RBI, 110 R, 14 SB in 156 games, 1951 when he hit .344/.393/.426 with 4 HR, 63 RBI, 92 R, 29 SB in 154 games and 1958 when he hit .350/.440/.441 with 2 HR, 33 RBI, 98 R, 30 SB in 152 games.
Ashburn was the National League batting champ in 1955 (.338) and 1958. He led the NL in triples in 1950 (14) and 1958 (13). He led the NL in steals in 1948 (32).
He was an All Star six times (1948, 1951, 1953, 1958, 1962(2) ).
