Osborne Earl (Ozzie) Smith was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame as the sole member of the class of 2002. Smith was a shortstop with 19 seasons MLB experience playing with the San Diego Padres (1978-1981) and St Louis Cardinals (1982-1996). For his MLB career he hit .262/.337/.328 with 28 HR, 793 RBI, 1257 R, 580 SB in 2573 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1987 when he hit .303/.392/.383 with 0 HR, 75 RBI, 104 R, 43 SB in 158 games, 1991 when he hit .285/.380/.367 with 3 HR, 50 RBI, 96 R, 35 SB in 150 games and 1985 when he hit .276/.355/.361 with 6 HR, 54 RBI, 70 R, 31 SB in 158 games.
He was an All Star 15 times (1981-1992, 1994-1996). He won 13 Gold Gloves (1980-1992). He finished second in NL Rookie of the Year voting in 1978 and second in NL MVP voting in 1987. Smith won the World Series Championship with the Cardinals in 1982.
