Jacob N (Nellie) Fox was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1997 along with Tommy Lasorda, Phil Niekro and Willie Wells. Fox was a second baseman with 19 seasons MLB experience playing with the Philadelphia Athletics (1947-1949), Chicago White Sox (1950-1963), Houston Colt 45s (1964) and Houston Astros (1965). For his MLB career he hit .288/.348/.363 with 35 HR, 790 RBI, 1279 R, 76 SB in 2367 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1957 when he hit .317/.403/.415 with 6 HR, 61 RBI, 110 R, 5 SB in 155 games, 1955 when he hit .311/.364/.406 with 6 HR, 59 RBI, 100 R, 7 SB in 154 games and 1959 when he hit .306/.380/.389 with 2 HR, 70 RBI, 84 R, 5 SB in 156 games.
Fox led the American League in triples in 1960 (10).
He was an All Star 15 times (1951-1961, 1963). He won three Gold Gloves (1957, 1959-1960). Fox won the American League MVP in 1959.
