Luis E Aparicio Montiel was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1984 along with Don Drysdale, Richard Ferrell, Harmon Killebrew and Pee Wee Reese. Aparicio was a shortstop with 18 seasons MLB experience playing with the Chicago White Sox (1956-1962, 1968-1970), Baltimore Orioles (1963-1967) and Boston Red Sox (1971-1973). For his MLB career he hit .262/.311/.343 with 83 HR, 791 RBI, 1335 R, 506 SB in 2599 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1960 when he hit .277/.323/.343 with 2 HR, 61 RBI, 86 R, 51 SB in 153 games, 1959 when he hit .257/.316/.332 with 6 HR, 51 RBI, 98 R, 56 SB in 152 games and 1966 when he hit .276/.311/.366 with 6 HR, 41 RBI, 97 R, 25 SB in 151 games.
Aparicio won the American League Rookie of the Year in 1956 when he hit .266/.311/.341 with 3 HR, 56 RBI, 69 R, 21 SB in 152 games.
Aparicio led the American League in steals nine consecutive years: 1956, 1957 (28), 1958 (29), 1959, 1960, 1961 (53), 1962 (31), 1963 (40) and 1964 (57).
He was an All Star 13 times (1958-1964, 1970-1972). He won nine Gold Gloves (1958-1962, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1970). He finished second in AL MVP voting in 1959. Aparicio won the World Series Championship with the Orioles in 1966.
