Joe L Morgan was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1990 along with Jim Palmer. Morgan was a second baseman with 22 seasons MLB experience playing with the Houston Colt 45s (1963-1964), Houston Astros (1965-1971, 1980), Cincinnati Reds (1972-1979), San Francisco Giants (1981-1982), Philadelphia Phillies (1983) and Oakland Athletics (1984). For his MLB career he hit .271/.392/.427 with 268 HR, 1133 RBI, 1650 R, 689 SB in 2649 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1976 when he hit .320/.444/.576 with 27 HR, 111 RBI, 113 R, 60 SB in 141 games, 1975 when he hit .327/.466/.508 with 17 HR, 94 RBI, 107 R, 67 SB in 146 games and 1973 when he hit .290/.406/.493 with 26 HR, 82 RBI, 116 R, 67 SB in 157 games.
Morgan led the National League in triples in 1971 (11). He led the NL in runs in 1972 (122).
He was an All Star ten times (1966, 1970, 1972-1979). He won five Gold Gloves (1973-1977). Morgan was the National League MVP in 1975 and 1976. He won the World Series Championship with the Reds in 1975 and 1976.
