Ferguson A (Fergie) Jenkins was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1991 along with Rod Carew, Tony Lazzeri, Gaylord Perry and William Veeck. Jenkins was a RHP with 19 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Philadelphia Phillies (1965-1966), Chicago Cubs (1966-1973, 1982-1983), Texas Rangers (1974-1975, 1978-1981) and Boston Red Sox (1976-1977). For his career he was 284-226 with a 3.34 ERA, 3192 K, 1.14 WHIP, 7 SV, 267 complete games, 49 shut outs in 4500.2 IP over 664 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1974 when he was 25-12 with a 2.82 ERA, 225 K, 1.01 WHIP, 29 complete games, 6 shut outs in 328.1 IP over 41 games, 1971 when he was 24-13 with a 2.77 ERA, 263 K, 1.05 WHIP, 30 complete games, 3 shut outs in 325.0 IP in 39 games and 1969 when he was 21-15 with a 3.21 ERA, 273 K, 1.14 WHIP, 1 SV, 23 complete games, 7 shut outs in 311.1 IP over 43 games.
Jenkins led the National League in wins in 1971 and in strikeouts in 1969. He led the American League in wins in 1974.
He was an All Star three times (1967, 1971-1972). Jenkins won the National League Cy Young in 1971 and finished second in NL voting in 1967 and second in AL voting in 1974.
