William H Foster was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1996 along with Jim Bunning, Ned Hanlon and Earl Weaver. Foster was inducted by the Veteran's Committee and had been a player in the Negro Leagues. He was a LHP who pitched with the Memphis Red Sox (1923-1924), Chicago American Giants (1923-1930, 1932-1935, 1937), Birmingham Black Barons (1925), Homestead Grays (1931), Kansas City Monarchs (1931) and Pittsburgh Crawfords (1936). While stats are incomplete he is credited with a career 143-69 record with a 2.40 ERA, 734 K and 1.11 WHIP. Foster won the Negro League Championship with Chicago in 1926 and 1927.
