John A (Bid) McPhee was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2000 along with Sparky Anderson, Carlton Fisk, Tony Perez and Turkey Stearnes. McPhee was a second baseman with 18 seasons MLB experience playing with the Cincinnati Red Stockings (1882-1889) and Cincinnati Reds (1890-1899). For his MLB career he hit .272/.355/.373 with 53 HR, 1072 RBI, 1684 R, 568 SB in 2168 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1894 when he hit .313/.427/.429 with 5 HR, 93 RBI, 113 R, 33 SB in 128 games, 1887 when he hit .289/.360/.407 with 2 HR, 87 RBI, 137 R, 95 SB in 129 games and 1895 when he hit .299/.409/.417 with 1 HR, 75 RBI, 107 R, 30 SB in 115 games.
He led the American Association in triples in 1887 (19). He led the AA in home runs in 1886 (8).
McPhee also served as manager for the Reds (1901-1902) with a 79-124 record.
