Luke Gregerson traded to Athletics

Luke Gregerson was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Oakland Athletics on December 3, 2013. In exchange the Padres received Seth Smith.

RHP Gregerson has five seasons MLB experience pitching all with the Padres. In 2013 he was 6-8, 2.71 ERA, 64 K, 1.01 WHIP, 4 SV in 66.1 IP over 73 games. For his MLB career he is 17-22, 2.88 ERA, 352 K, 1.09 WHIP, 16 SV in 347.0 IP over 363 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 28th round in 2006. Gregerson turned 29 on May 14.

Smith is an outfielder with seven seasons MLB experience with the Athletics and Rockies. In 2013 he hit .253/.329/.391 with 8 HR, 40 RBI, 49 R, 0 SB in 117 games with the Athletics. For his MLB career he has hit .265/.342/.456 with 73 HR, 273 RBI, 304 R, 19 SB in 729 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the second round in 2004. Smith turned 31 on September 30.
