Logan Morrison traded to Mariners

Logan Morrison was traded by the Miami Marlins to the Seattle Mariners on December 11, 2013. In exchange the Marlins received Carter Capps.

Morrison is an OF/1B with four seasons MLB experience playing with the Marlins. He split 2013 between Class A Advanced Jupiter and Double A Jacksonville while rehabbing and with the Marlins. He hit .174/.296/.174 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 6 games at Jupiter, hit .182/.229/.364 with 2 HR, 7 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 10 games at Jacksonville and hit .242/.333/.375 with 6 HR, 36 RBI, 32 R, 0 SB in 85 games with the Marlins. For his MLB career he has hit .249/.337/.427 with 42 HR, 162 RBI, 159 R, 3 SB in 363 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the 22nd round in 2005. Morrison turned 26 on August 25.

RHP Capps has two seasons MLB experience pitching with the Mariners. He split 2013 between Triple A Tacoma and the Mariners. He was 0-0, 1.64 ERA, 9 K, 0.91 WHIP in 11.0 IP over 7 games at Tacoma and was 3-3, 5.49 ERA, 66 K, 1.63 WHIP in 59.0 IP over 53 games with the Mariners. For his MLB career he is 3-3, 5.04 ERA, 94 K, 1.57 WHIP in 59.0 IP over 71 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the third round in 2011. Capps turned 23 on August 7th.
