Jim Johnson traded to Athletics

Jim Johnson was traded by the Baltimore Orioles to the Oakland Athletics on December 2, 2013, In exchange the Orioles received Jemile Weeks and a player to be named later.

RHP Johnson has eight seasons MLB experience pitching all with the Orioles. In 2013 he was 3-8, 2.94 ERA, 56 K, 1.28 WHIP, 50 SV in 70.1 IP over 74 games. For his MLB career he is 18-26, 3.11 ERA, 265 K, 1.23 WHIP, 122 SV in 400.0 IP over 360 games. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the fifth round in 2001. Johnson turned 30 on June 27.

Weeks is a 2B\SS\OF with three seasons MLB experience playing with the Athletics. He split 2013 between Triple A Sacramento and the Athletics. He hit .271/.376/.369 with 4 HR, 40 RBI, 96 R, 17 SB in 130 games at Sacramento and hit .111/.111/.111 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 8 games with the Athletics. For his MLB career he has hit .258/.319/.357 with 4 HR, 56 RBI, 107 R, 38 SB in 223 games. He was originally drafted by the Athletics with the 12th pick of the first round in 2008. Weeks will be 27 on January 26.
