Jesus Guzman traded to Astros

Jesus Guzman was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Houston Astros on December 18, 2013. In exchange the Padres received Ryan Jackson.

Guzman is a 1B\OF with four seasons MLB experience playing with the Padres and Giants. In 2013 he hit .226/.297/.378 with 9 HR, 35 RBI, 33 R, 3 SB in 126 games with the Padres. For his MLB career he has hit .259/.324/.418 with 23 HR, 127 RBI, 98 R, 15 SB in 334 games. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2000 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Guzman turned 29 on June 14.

Jackson is a 2B\3B with two partial seasons MLB experience playing with the Cardinals. He split 2013 between Triple A Memphis and the Cardinals. He hit .278/.352/.346 with 3 HR, 34 RBI, 49 R, 9 SB in 121 games at Memphis and was hitless in seven at bats over seven games with the Cardinals. For his MLB career he has hit .083/.120/.083 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 20 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the fifth round in 2009. The Astros selected him off waivers in November 2013. Jackson turned 25 on May 10.
