Jerry Blevins traded to Nationals

Jerry Blevins was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Washington Nationals on December 11, 2013. In exchange the Athletics received Billy Burns.

LHP Blevins has seven seasons MLB experience pitching all with the Athletics. In 2013 he was 5-0, 3.15 ERA, 52 K, 1.07 WHIP in 60.0 IP over 67 games. For his MLB career he is 13-6, 3.30 ERA, 239 K, 1.21 WHIP, 2 SV in 267.0 IP over 281 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 17th round in 2004. He was traded to the Athletics in 2007. Blevins turned 30 on September 6th.

Burns is an outfielder who split 2013 between Class A Advanced and Double A Harrisburg. He hit .312/.422/.391 with 0 HR, 29 RBI, 70 R, 54 SB in 91 games at Potomac and hit .325/.434/.360 with 0 HR, 8 RBI, 26 R, 20 SB in 30 games at Harrisburg. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the 32nd round in 2011. Burns turned 24 on August 30.
