Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros and Josh Reddick of the Oakland Athletics were selected the American League Players of the Week for the span of April 27, 2015 through May 3, 2015.
The highlights for Altuve included hitting 14 for 30 with 5 2B, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 7 R, 2 SB, 3 BB with an 1.233 OPS. This season the second baseman is hitting .367/.417/.523 with 3 HR, 19 RBI, 16 R, 10 SB in 26 games. Over his five season MLB career with the Astros he has hit .305/.343/.406 with 24 HR, 179 RBI, 270 R, 140 SB in 539 games. He originally signed with the Astros in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Altuve will be 25 on May 6th.
The highlights for Reddick included hitting 11 for 23 with 1 2B, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 8 R, 0 SB, 3 BB with an 1.452 OPS. For the season the outfielder is hitting .391/.468/.652 with 4 HR, 20 RBI, 13 R, 2 SB in 20 games. Over his seven season MLB career with the Athletics and Red Sox he has hit .250/.311/.439 with 70 HR, 252 RBI, 255 R, 25 SB in 541 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 17th round in 2006. Reddick turned 28 on February 19.
