Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers hit home run 400 for his MLB career in a 4-3 victory over the St Louis Cardinals on May 16, 2015. For the game he was 1 for 5 with the home run, one RBI and one run whil ebatting third and playing first base. The solo shot came in the first inning off Cardinals stater Tyler Lyons. This season he is hitting .333/.435/.600 with 10 HR, 29 RBI, 23 R, 1 SB in 37 games. Over 13 MLB seasons with the Tigers and Marlins he has hit .320/.397/.564 with 400 HR, 1398 RBI, 1188 R, 38 SB in 1856 games. Cabrera was the American League MVP in 2012 and 2013 with the Tigers. He originally signed with the Marlins in 1999 as an amatuer free agent out of Venezuela. Cabrera turned 32 on April 18.
The home run also pushed Cabrera past Andres Galarraga to the top of the list for MLB players born in Venezuela. Galarraga was a first baseman who had 19 MLB seasons with the Angels, Giants, Expos, Rangers, Braves, Rockies and Cardials. He hit .288/.347/.499 with 399 HR, 1425 RBI, 1195 R, 128 SB in 2257 games. He originally signed with the Expos in 1979 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Galarraga was 43 when he retired before the 2005 season.
