Mark Ellis retires
Mark Ellis announced his retirement from playing baseball in February 2015. The second baseman had 12 seasons MLB experience playing with the Oakland Athltics (2002-2003, 2005-2011), Colorado Rockies (2011), Los Angeles Dodgers (2012-2013) and St Louis Cardinals (2014). For 2014 he hit .180/.253/.213 with 0 HR, 12 RBI, 15 R, 4 SB in 73 games with the Cardinals. For his MLB career he hit .262/.327/.384 with 105 HR, 550 RBI, 690 R, 82 SB in 1435 games. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the ninth round in 1999. Ellis was 37 at the time of his retirement.
