Alfonso Soriano retires
Alfonso Soriano announced his retirement from playing baseball in November 2014. The OF\2B had 16 seasons MLB experience playing with the New York Yankees (1999-2003, 2013-2014), Texas Rangers (2004-2005), Washington Nationals (2006) and Chicago Cubs (2007-2013). For the 2014 season he hit .221/.244/.367 with 6 HR, 23 RBI, 22 R, 1 SB in 67 games. For his MLB Career he hit .270/.319/.500 with 412 HR, 1159 RBI, 1152 R, 289 SB in 1975 games. Soriano was a seven time All-Star (2002-2008) and a four time Silver Slugger (2002, 2004-2006) and finished third in AL MVP voting in 2002. He came to the MLB in 1998 after his contract with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in Japan was purchased. Soriano was 38 at the time of his retirement.
