Jason Giambi retires

Jason Giambi announced his retirement from playing baseball in February 2015. The 1B\OF\DH had 20 seasons MLB experience playing with the Oakland Athletics (1995-2001, 2009), New York Yankees (2002-2008), Colorado Rockies (2009-2012) and Cleveland Indians (2013-2014). For 2014 he hit .118/.211/.235 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 6 games at Double A Akron and .133/.257/.267 with 2 HR, 5 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 26 games with the Indians. For his MLB career he hit .277/.399/.516 with 440 HR, 1441 RBI, 1227 R, 20 SB in 2260 games. Giambi was the American League MVP in 2000 and second in voting in 2001. He was a five time All-Star (2000-2004) a two time Silver Slugger (2001-2002). He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the second round in 1992. Giambi was 44 at the time of his retirement.
